Boutique:

The Boutique Committee (Joanne Tjaden, Maureen Clayton and Marg Frisque) is asking members to contribute small and unique items which we can sell in $5, $10, $15 and $20 categories.
Suggestions include small bags, bookmarks, cards/postcards, pincushions, needle cases, cuffs, pins, etc.
We want to ensure that any work being presented to the public reflects the best work of our guild members, and we will be reviewing items before putting them in the sale. We have listed some guidelines below. Please check with a committee member for more information or to review any items you would like to submit.

  1. We encourage creativity and originality. If commercial patterns are used as a basis for the design of items, please add some unique features to the design, detailing and finish.
  2. Colour sells! Colour, texture and technique are interrelated; the design of the article should combine these elements harmoniously.
  3. Fabrics and embellishments should be of good quality, colour-fast and suitable for the use intended.

Sewing Standards
  1. The overall look of the item should be polished and professional with all seams, hems, and finishes neat and secure.
  2. Embellishments, buttons, zippers, and the item must be new, functionally appropriate and of good quality.
  3. Machine and hand stitching should be inconspicuous unless it is used as an embellishment.
  4. Cut edges must be machine overcast, turned, serged or finished to prevent fraying.
