Good evening my fellow Quilters.
Today my eyes were opened upon hearing from an individual who let me know that
there are over 1,000 children in our Kelowna community that are without beds and
bedding to sleep in. We can help with this. Children need beds to sleep well and face
their day-to-day challenges. "Sleep in Heavenly Peace" is an international organization
that is responding to this very real problem of child bed-lessness. Kelowna has
chapter of this organization. That just says it all..
We quilters can do our part in helping to solve bed-lessness by participating in the
following ways:
1) Donate a pieced quilt top of your making 60" x 80"
2) Donate some of your fabric
3) Help us to cut and bag simple kits from donated fabric.
4) Join with us to assemble these quilts.
Bring your energy and friendship toassemble them together on the following days at Linda's Quilt Shop. Jim & Linda
our goal.
Please let me know, either myself Kim Laloge at 250-317-2262 or email me at:
[email protected]
Ethna Tutt at 250-718-0803 or email her
at [email protected] if you should email us, please put "Quilt Project" in the subject
line. Please let us know which day or weekend or cutting session you might be able to
help with. We need your help, children ages to 3 - 17 need these bed covers, made
with love. We would love you to be a part of this worthwhile project. Thank you, we
"sew" "sew appreciate this and your efforts to help us achieve our goal.
Another request is for knitters &/or crocheters to knit or crochet 12" squares, any color,
any pattern. These can be put together to make blankets for the beds. Anyone who can
donate supplies towards this project, please get in touch with either of us.
A storage site, a trailer, a heated building for actual bed building is needed.
If you know of the possibility of a site which could be donated for use by this group, or
can assist Michelle Cooper, please call her at 250-215-6601. A storage site for bedding,
mattresses, pillows, and our beloved quilts & afghans is also needed.
Thank you. Kim Laloge.
