Visiting twins home from the NICU
|
These beautiful twin boys, born this spring, had to spend some time in the Vancouver and Kelowna NICU.
They each received a quilt from our NICU program and the mother wants to send a thank you to the makers. She appreciated the quilts covering the incubators in the NICU and is using them at home as well! |
Thank you from Charlotte |
Comment My twins were recently born prematurely at Kelowna General Hospital. We are currently residing in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and expect to be here for some time. As soon as we arrived we were given a wonderful, vibrant quilt made by “Karen B”. Everyone that comes to our room comments on how beautiful our quilt is. We will treasure it forever. Thank you so very much for your kind donation. Charlotte Fahy and Family. |

Thank you so very much for the baby quilt you made and we received from the NICU.
My baby was born on May 17, 2024 and is doing well and we are enjoying the quilt every day. It is a precious gift and very much appreciated! |

Hi Liz,
We wanted to thank you for the beautiful quilt we were given last May during our week long stay at the Kelowna NICU. It was such a sweet thing to receive when we arrived on a 2 am transfer from home. We love it and will cherish it for a long time! Many thanks Violet, Colin and baby Tilia ❤️ |
A lovely Thank You Note from a family at the NICU
I just wanted to send a note to thank the Orchard Valley Quilters Guild for the gorgeous quilt we received during our stay at KGH in the NICU over Christmas this year. Our sweet baby boy, Hudson, arrived via emergency c-section on Christmas Eve, and needed to stay in the NICU for a few days due to some issues with his breathing and some injuries from birth. I was recovering from a very long labour and the surgery, and we were unable to have any family or friends visit us due to the covid restrictions. My husband and I were overwhelmed with the gift of the beautiful quilt, it made us feel surrounded with love from the community, and was a drop of mercy during a very different, very special Christmas. Thank you so much to the quilter K. Forth, who signed the quilt. It's now a treasured part of the nursery. Our baby boy is healthy now and growing strong. He loves to look at the beautiful quilt and I know we'll treasure it for years to come.
Love, Sarah, Blaine and Hudson

A thank you message from a grateful grandmotther
Good Morning,
I just wanted to let the quilters know how much we personally have appreciated the donated baby quilts. My twin grand babies were born premature on February 19, 2019. They are 2-years old now and both still use their quilts every day during the week. I look after them when their parents work.
Avery, the eldest of the twins (and Kade), will grab her quilt and Barney the dinosaur, cuddling both often throughout the day. (Barney was her uncles when he was tiny.)
Thank you to everyone that participates in the quilt donations. Thank you to "Heather", the lady that made the two quilts we have. She did an amazing job and they are used all the time!
Best regards,
Pam
Avery & Kade too!

Hello Orchard Valley Quilters Guild,
My husband and I had our first child in November. Unfortunately, we had to spend about a week in the NICU at KGH. During the difficult time, the quilts your group donated to the NICU provided a lovely splash of color and softness. The NICU informed us that we could take our quilt home, so now our son has a lovely quilt made by Sharon Williams. I just wanted to reach out and thank you very much for your donation and let you know that it was a very appreciated ray of sunshine while we were in the NICU.
Take care,
Sincerely,
Samantha, Joe, and baby Kevin.

OVQG Pop-up Donation Day July 22
Thank you to everyone that attended the Pop-up Donation Day on July 22nd.
101 fabulous quilts were collected at the day and kindly dropped off ahead of the event. We should now have enough quilts to supply the NICU till the end of September. I have also received quilts that will allow us to supply the West Kelowna Nurse Family Partnership and Kids Count for all of the coming year. They receive the quilts larger or smaller than what the NICU needs.
