May 9, 2023 Memory Quilts : Presentation by Marnie Freeman
www.memoryquiltsbymarnie.ca/
"Marnie Freeman is wife, mother and more recently a grandmother. She started quilting in her late twenties. She learned to sew from her mother and took sewing classes in junior high school. Marnie's passion for quilting began with a tree skirt and an advent calendar.
Later projects were inspired by family members who, in her eyes, needed a quilt to use and love. Her favourite quilt block is a star. She admits to migrating in that direction when browsing through patterns.
She worked for many years in the plumbing and heating industry and took on various roles including bookkeeper, office manager, and project coordinator. Her career path and role as a mother seemed to dissolve at the same time, which was never part of her plan.
Fast forward to today, and she is now combining her quilting skills with her management skills, to operate her business. She is driven by
a passion to offer a very unique service-give people a means to bring their memories out in the open, so they are no longer buried in a box or a closet somewhere."
